Opowieść o grupie żyjącej na przedmieściach kalifornijskiej młodzieży, rozpoczynająca się od samobójstwa tytułowego Kena (Adam Chubbuck). Shawn (James Bullard), choć spotyka się z rówieśniczką Zoe (Zara McDowell), ma jednocześnie romans z jej matką (Maeve Quinlan). Tate’a (James Ransone) strasznie denerwują dziadkowie, z którymi mieszka (Patricia Place i Harrison Young). Claude’a (Stephen Jasso) tyranizuje brutalny ojciec (Wade Williams). Ken Park focuses on several teenagers and their tormented home lives. Shawn seems to be the most conventional. Tate is brimming with psychotic rage; Claude is habitually harassed by his brutish father and coddled, rather uncomfortably, by his enormously pregnant mother. Peaches looks after her devoutly religious father, but yearns for freedom. They're all rather tight, or so they claim.
